Rubio confirmed to Rutte that United States is prepared to step back from peace process on Ukraine if clear path to peace does not emerge in near future

During a phone call with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States is prepared to step back from its efforts to broker peace in Ukraine if a clear path to peace does not emerge soon.
This was stated in a press release from the U.S. Department of State, as reported by Censor.NET.
It was noted that during the call, Rubio briefed Rutte on the peace proposal presented on Thursday, April 17, to the Ukrainian delegation in Paris and to Russian officials via telephone.
The U.S. Secretary of State expressed President Trump’s and the United States’ hope that the proposal would be accepted and would lead to a durable and lasting peace in Ukraine.
"The Secretary emphasized that while our country remains committed to ending the war, if a clear path to peace does not emerge soon, the United States will step back from efforts to broker peace," the statement said.
As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States would withdraw from peace negotiations to end the war if either side "complicates the process."
Earlier, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that if U.S. efforts to stop the war in Ukraine fail within the next few days, Trump would be informed that negotiations are no longer a viable option.
