U.S. presents "peace deal" plan in Russia’s war against Ukraine – Bloomberg

The United States has presented its allies with proposals for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, including possible terms for ending hostilities and easing sanctions against Moscow in the event of a sustained ceasefire.
This is reported by Bloomberg, Censor.NET reports.
The push comes after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday suggested that the Trump administration may "step back" from its peace efforts if no quick progress is made. However, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said in Rome on the same day that he remains "optimistic" about the chances of ending the war.
European officials familiar with the matter said the outlines of the U.S. plan were discussed during meetings in Paris on Thursday.
This proposal will actually freeze the war, and the Ukrainian territories currently occupied by Russia will remain under Moscow's control, they say.
In addition, Kyiv's aspirations to join NATO will also not be discussed.
The agency's sources declined to provide further details, citing the confidential nature of the talks.
The Paris talks included a meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and US Ambassador Steve Witkoff, as well as discussions between Rubio and national security advisers and negotiators from France, Germany, the UK and Ukraine.
One of Bloomberg’s sources stated that the proposals would not constitute a final peace settlement and would require further discussions with Kyiv. The source also noted that European allies do not recognize the occupied territories as Russian and consider security guarantees to be "crucial" for any peace agreement.
According to a person familiar with the matter, Kyiv has already agreed to a ceasefire, and its position is that Moscow must also agree to it before any other issues can be discussed.
The same source said that the task of the Ukrainian delegation in Paris was to discuss how any ceasefire would be monitored, as well as matters related to a potential peacekeeping contingent.
