Russia is expanding military presence in Armenia to increase pressure on South Caucasus countries - DIU

Russia is expanding its military presence in Armenia amid worsening relations with Azerbaijan.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the press center of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense.
As noted, the Kremlin has accelerated the manning of its military base in Gyumri (Armenia) in order to increase military and political pressure on the countries of the South Caucasus.
Personnel are being recruited from the Russian Armed Forces, which are serving in Rostov and Volgograd regions, as well as in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
In addition, Russia is actively looking for volunteers among representatives of the enslaved peoples of the Caucasus, particularly in North Ossetia and Adygea.
"The deployment of Russian troops in Armenia is an element of the Kremlin's comprehensive strategy aimed at destabilizing the global security situation. Along with fomenting inter-ethnic conflict, Moscow is increasing its military presence in the Caucasus. Probably, the deterioration of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia was prepared in advance," said Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
