Magyar is enigma for EU, he does not criticize bloc, but he does not defend it either - Politico

The European Union hopes that Péter Magyar's election victory will help reset relations with Hungary.
This is reported in a Politico article, according to Censor.NET.
Elections
EU leaders, increasingly frustrated by Orbán’s obstruction of support for Ukraine, are banking on the fact that the Hungarian elections could reset relations or at least ease tensions with Ukraine.

At the same time, the publication notes that Péter Magyar, who is Orbán’s main rival, largely echoes his rhetoric.
"He opposed Ukraine's accelerated accession to the EU, refused to supply weapons to Kyiv, and hinted that he would put the issue of EU accession to a referendum, which could completely derail the process," notes Politico,
His party, "Tisa," also voted against the €90 billion EU loan to Ukraine in the European Parliament, even though Hungary was not required to make a financial contribution.
The mood in Hungary
Some diplomats and Ukrainian officials believe that Madyar may soften his stance in the event of a victory, especially given that his priority is to unlock billions in frozen EU funds.
Polls show that a significant portion of the population of Hungary views Ukraine as a threat. Therefore, Magyar avoids any positive assessments, knowing that this would reflect poorly on him in the election.
Politico also notes that Mádor continues to keep Brussels at arm's length to avoid accusations from Orbán that he is a puppet of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
"This makes him a black box. What will he prioritize if he wins the election? For the EU, this is also something of a mystery. He doesn't criticize the EU, but he doesn't defend it either," said MEP Tineke Strik.
