"Gas case": HACC appeals court upheld Nasirov’s sentence—six years in prison

The High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the 6-year prison sentence handed down to Roman Nasirov, the former head of the State Fiscal Service.

Thus, Nasirov was found guilty of abuse of office, which resulted in losses to the state amounting to over 2 billion hryvnias.
The court also credited Nasirov with time served from March 2 to March 16, 2016, from April 24 to May 9, 2025, and from October 31, 2025, to April 2, 2026, at a rate of one day of pretrial detention counting as two days of imprisonment.
The sentence remained unchanged—6 years of imprisonment.

- As a reminder, Roman Nasirov is a defendant in the so-called "Onishchenko gas scheme," in connection with which a case was opened against him back in 2017.
- At that time, the case was taken up by the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv, where, over the course of two years, they were unable to even read out the indictment.
- In September 2019, the case was transferred to the High Anti-Corruption Court. It was heard there for over six years. During that time, more than 200 court hearings were scheduled.
- Nasirov had previously denied his guilt.
- In late October 2025, Nasirov was found guilty of making illegal decisions in favor of companies owned by former MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko and sentenced to six years in prison.
