We are preparing decisions to strengthen infantry, AFU contract system and response to AWOL, Zelenskyy says

Ukraine is preparing decisions to strengthen Ukrainian infantry, the army’s contract system, and the response to AWOL cases — "the measures must be the kind that actually work."

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this following a report by Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, Censor.NET reports.

Russian losses on the frontline

"Russian losses this March reached the highest level of the war: thanks to our drone strikes alone, 33,988 Russian servicemen were killed or seriously wounded, and another 1,363 occupiers were eliminated by artillery and other strikes. That means more than 35,000 Russian losses in a month, and these are clearly confirmed losses: our system contains video confirmation of every such strike," the president said.

  • Zelenskyy named the warriors of the Alpha Special Operations Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Birds of Magyar brigade, the Phoenix border guards’ special unit, Lazar’s Group, and the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade as the most effective units in the use of drones.

Situation on the frontline

Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov reported to Zelenskyy on the results of all units on the frontline: there are clear and verified reports for every direction and every category of strikes.

"We are ready to provide the relevant data to our partners. In effect, Ukraine’s Defense and Security Forces have deprived the occupier of the ability to impose the nature of the situation on the frontline," the head of state said.

Importantly, results in destroying Russian air defense systems have also increased significantly, with 274 such systems hit in March alone. There are also tangible results in the destruction of Russian depots and military logistics. The Defense Ministry, together with the Armed Forces, will present society with a detailed report for March — the data that can be made public, he said.

Addressing the AWOL problem

In addition, Zelenskyy agreed with the minister on a number of tasks for the coming weeks.

"In particular, we are preparing decisions to strengthen Ukrainian infantry, the army’s contract system and the response to AWOL — the measures must be the kind that actually work. We are also preparing decisions to scale up the export capabilities of our weapons manufacturers and joint production with partners," he added.
