On the night of 22 August, the Samara Region of Russia was attacked by drones. A fire broke out at the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery following the strike.

According to Censor.NET, this has been reported by Russian media, monitoring Telegram channels and OSINT communities.

Local residents reported hearing explosions and the activation of Russian air defences during the night. Following this, thick smoke appeared over the industrial area.

Videos showing a massive fire on the factory premises are also circulating online. Explosions and the characteristic rumble of drones flying overhead can be heard in the footage.

Vyacheslav Fedoryshchev, Governor of the Samara Region, stated that a massive drone attack had been repelled during the night. In particular, Russian air defences allegedly shot down and neutralised several dozen enemy UAVs over the region.

The governor confirmed damage to one of the industrial plants, as well as a strike on the Ozon logistics complex.
