Zelenskyy responds to Trump: Ukraine ready to de-escalate if Russia does not strike energy and food

"Of course, this Russian war against Ukraine and common sense must be ended. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, its consequences have been far-reaching: the deaths of many people, the destruction of cities and villages, food-security problems, energy challenges, the extremely rapid development of technologies, including autonomous drones, and the swift evolution of strike capabilities never seen before," the head of state stressed.
According to Zelenskyy, every new week of this war, let alone every new year, brings more and more problems.
"Ukraine has sought peace from the very first minute. We have already made dozens of diplomatic proposals on how to end this war with dignity, guarantee security, and prevent new Russian invasions.
A dialogue with President Trump and America is now underway. There are also ideas for bringing peace closer, beginning with decisive de-escalation steps. Ukraine’s energy sector, critical infrastructure and food exports must cease to be targets for Russia, and this will lead to corresponding de-escalation steps on our part," the president said.
Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine was ready to work and would discuss this with partners on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
"It will no longer be the case that only the country under attack suffers. The nature of war is now such that the aggressor will also suffer. Technology makes this possible. The strength of countries’ leadership can, and must ensure de-escalation, security and peace. Thank you!" he added.
