More than 50 UN member states call on Russia to end aggression and agree to ceasefire
Diplomats from 51 countries called on Russia to agree to a ceasefire and ensure the immediate return to Ukraine of all civilians, including children, who have been unlawfully detained, deported or forcibly displaced.
The call appears in a joint declaration released ahead of a UN Security Council meeting, Suspilne reports, according to Censor.NET.
Call for a ceasefire
"Since March 2025, Ukraine has agreed to a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire. We call on Russia to finally do the same as a necessary step toward constructive diplomacy and negotiations leading to peace," the declaration says.
Security in the Black Sea
The countries also expressed concern about Russian attacks in the Black Sea, stressing that Moscow was trying to disrupt Ukrainian grain exports and threatening global food security.
The diplomats said they supported efforts to reach agreements on restoring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea region.
"Ukraine seeks peace. We seek peace. Russia must end its aggression, agree to a ceasefire and engage constructively in negotiations to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in accordance with international law," the document says.

On September 23, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Ukraine had agreed to a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire and called on Russia to do the same.
