Illegal sale of weapons worth one million hryvnias: law enforcement officer and his brother are to stand trial, – State Bureau of Investigation. PHOTOS

As part of the ‘Stop Trafficking’ special operation, a pre-trial investigation has been completed into a law enforcement officer and his brother, who were selling weapons and ammunition in Kropyvnytskyi. The indictment has been submitted to the court.

What is known

As noted, in March 2026, the law enforcement officer set up an illegal trade in weapons and ammunition. Whilst transporting them, he used his service ID to avoid checks. His brother sought out buyers and helped to sell the weapons.

SBI officers documented three instances of sales totalling 1 million hryvnias. In June 2026, the brothers were arrested whilst selling another consignment.

What are the consequences?

It is reported that during searches of their homes, an arsenal of weapons and ammunition was discovered. Passports belonging to the Russian Federation and the so-called "LPR" were also seized from one of the suspects.

The law enforcement officer has been dismissed from service. Both brothers are charged with the unlawful carrying, possession, acquisition and sale of firearms as part of a premeditated conspiracy by a group of individuals (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
