Zelenskyy was asked to comment on U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s statement regarding a "strategic dead end" in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
"We've heard about so many different situations during this war—so many dead-end situations, difficult moves, and so on. People, leaders, and politicians are driving themselves into a corner. Even on the very first day, we weren't backed into a corner.
Because one person tried to drive an entire nation into a dead end, and the people rose up to defend their country," he emphasized.
Ukraine did not let the Russians do that, Zelenskyy said.
"People have started to support us. But after that, we can’t, on the one hand, negotiate with the Russians about some economic projects for the future, and on the other hand, claim that we’re in some kind of diplomatic corner.
We’re not in a diplomatic corner. Shut down his (Putin’s—Ed.) entire economy, silence Russia, and stop feeding them with your sales. Impose sanctions on its weapons," the president added.
