General Staff: Defense Forces hit Omsk oil refinery in Russia – over 2,500 km from Ukraine

Ukraine strikes Omsk refinery with upgraded FP-1 drones

On October 8, 2026, units of Ukraine's Defense Forces struck Russia's largest oil refinery — the Omsk refinery.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this, Censor.NET reports.

Details of the attack

Ukrainian company Fire Point said that its upgraded FP-1 drones attacked the refinery more than 2,500 km from the Ukrainian border. A fire broke out following the strike.

  • The Omsk refinery has the highest refining capacity in Russia. It can process more than 21 million tonnes of oil annually. The plant specializes in producing a wide range of fuels, lubricants, and petrochemical products.

The facility is involved in supplying the Russian occupying army.

More about the refinery

The Omsk refinery was previously hit on July 6, 2026. Ukrainian troops struck the ELOU-AVT-11 primary crude oil processing unit, which has a design capacity of 8.4 million tonnes of oil per year.

"Strikes on such facilities constitute Ukraine's exercise of its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and are aimed at reducing Russia's military and economic potential," the General Staff added.
