Military formations should be established not only in Donbas but also in Kharkiv region, - Butusov

Following Drapatyi’s appointment, the "Center" and "Azov" military groups were formed, and assault regiments were no longer constantly redeployed between different sections of the front. However, more profound changes within the military are necessary for more effective command and control.
Yurii Butusov, commander of the UAV company of the 23rd Assault Regiment within the National Guard’s 2nd Corps "Khartiia," made this statement during a live broadcast on the YouTube channel "Butusov Plus," according to Censor.NET.

He pointed out two important changes following Drapatyi’s appointment.
"First, we’re seeing the creation of two military formations: ‘Center’ and ‘Azov.’ These are, in fact, army formations. I believe this is a step in the right direction. The only regret is that in two months, only two army groups have been formed.
In other sectors of the front, such army groups have not been formed. And this is leading to major organizational and management problems," Butusov explained.
According to him, this is exactly the kind of military formation needed in the Kharkiv region, not just in the Donbas.
"Unfortunately, according to my information, the General Staff has simply refused to create a military formation in the Kharkiv region. Although there is no logic to this at all. In the Donbas, a military group is being formed to improve command and control, but in the Kharkiv region—as I understand it, according to the logic of General Staff Chief Skibiuk—there is no need to improve command and control of troops at the strategic and operational levels," the company commander added.
Assault regiments
At the same time, Butusov views positively the move away from the practice of "plugging gaps" with continuous assault operations by assault regiments.
"Assault regiments have been assigned to corps sectors. And it suddenly turned out that nothing critical happened on the front line because of this. If assault regiments remain in a specific sector to conduct assault operations, it’s convenient and effective," he emphasized.
He outlined two important changes that have taken place but have not altered the situation across the entire army.
"There are certain steps that can be viewed as positive. We need deeper and more systematic changes—and much faster. This problem must be resolved; it lies ahead," Butusov added.
Changes in the army
In his opinion, the reorganization of the armed forces should be completed.
"Army corps should fight with their designated, assigned strength; army corps should be combined into military groupings, on the basis of which armies should be formed. And this will truly allow for decentralized command.
Such changes are needed not only in the army, which holds the front lines, but also in the Air Force. There must be comprehensive and systematic actions; there are many problems that have accumulated. We need to act quickly," Butusov believes.
