Russia builds new drone launch site near Millerovo in month to launch jet-powered Gerans. SATELLITE PHOTOS
Russian forces have built a large launch site for attack and jet-powered drones in the Rostov region in less than two months.
OSINT analyst "Absolutely reliable source" reported this after analyzing Planet Labs satellite imagery, Censor.NET reports.
Details
According to the report, the site was still an empty field on September 1. The first section of the Millerovo drone launch site is now nearing completion. It includes:
- 8 prepared launcher positions;
- 32 positions for preparing UAVs for launch.
Satellite imagery from October 12 shows drones already being unloaded in zone 3.
Why does Russia need this new facility?
OSINT analysts suggest construction was accelerated to increase the scale of attacks following the September strikes on Kyiv. They say the construction pattern closely resembles that used in Tsymbulovo in Russia’s Oryol region.
However, they note that such facilities cannot be effectively struck with conventional kamikaze drones. The facility’s coordinates are 48.995968, 40.286255.
