Rubio does not rule out inviting Zelenskyy to G20 summit in Miami, but decision rests with Trump

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has not ruled out the possibility that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may be invited to the G20 summit in Miami this December.
He madethese remarks following a meeting of G20 foreign ministers, according to Censor.NET.
The decision rests with Trump
Rubio stated that the final decision on inviting Zelenskyy must be made by US President Donald Trump.
"This is a leaders’ summit, and the decision on this must be made by the president. I wouldn’t rule it out, especially if something positive could come of his (Zelenskyy’s – ed.) participation, but I have no announcements to make on this matter today," said the US Secretary of State.
Scepticism regarding a swift peace
He also stated that, at present, Russia’s war against Ukraine "is not at the stage of a peaceful settlement".
"I do not know whether peace in Ukraine can be achieved through negotiations. That is precisely what we are trying to find out. I do not think anyone here would claim that we are on the verge of a settlement," said Rubio.
