It is impossible to resume transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine, - Peskov

The Kremlin stated that it is currently impossible to resume gas transit through Ukraine

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that it is currently impossible to resume the transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukrainian territory. At the same time, he did not rule out that the situation could change in the future.

According to Censor.NET, Peskov made these remarks in comments to Russian propaganda media outlets.

The Russian dictator’s spokesperson noted that the current situation on the ground indicates that such plans cannot be carried out.

"For now, it’s hardly possible to talk about this. In fact, the situation on the ground speaks more than eloquently to the impossibility of carrying out such plans at this time," Peskov said.

He was responding to a question about whether Russia is interested in resuming transit and whether it considers such a possibility in the future.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman noted that further developments will depend on the willingness of buyers and sellers, as well as the capabilities of suppliers.

What led up to this?

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that the U.S. supports the swiftest possible resumption of Russian natural gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine.

According to the publication, this initiative is being discussed as part of negotiations aimed at reaching an energy truce ahead of winter.
