Thirteen-year-old Arina Pidruchna was killed in a Russian strike on the city of Koziatyn in the Vinnytsia region on 1 November.
The Hlukhivtsi territorial community reported this, according to Censor.NET
Circumstances of her death
"Russia has taken the life of a bright, talented 13-year-old girl. On 1 November, a treacherous enemy Shahed drone strike on the city of Koziatyn cut short the life of Arina Andriivna Pidruchna, a young resident of the Hlukhivtsi community — a bright, intelligent, talented and exceptionally cheerful girl," the statement reads.
According to the statement, the girl was supposed to meet a friend outside a shop near the site of the enemy strike. At that tragic moment, Arina was talking on the phone, and her last words were: "I can see a Shahed…"
What is known about the girl
Arina was born on 4 May 2013 and grew up and lived with her family in the village of Nepedivka.
She was a child who radiated light and had a thirst for knowledge. She completed her primary education at Nepedivka Lyceum while also studying successfully at a private school in Berdychiv, where she completed a mental arithmetic course with distinction.
After joining Year 5 at Koziatyn Lyceum No. 2, Arina quickly became the heart of her class and a leader. She was consistently a top student and served as class monitor, excelling in the exact and natural sciences — mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology — and regularly taking part in and winning academic olympiads.
Despite her busy study schedule, Arina also found time for extracurricular clubs and attended a Pentecostal Sunday school in Koziatyn. She was sociable and sincere, had many friends and loved her younger brother Arsen dearly, the statement says.
Mourning in the community
"The Hlukhivtsi community is in deep mourning alongside the family. 2 and 3 November have been declared days of mourning in the community," the statement reads.
As a mark of mourning for the girl, Ukrainian national flags with black ribbons will be flown at half-mast on buildings and premises of local government bodies, businesses, institutions and organisations, regardless of ownership. Entertainment music is prohibited in shops, catering establishments and on public transport.
