On 31 October, 23-year-old servicewoman Diana Horun, call sign Marena, a senior combat medic in a strike UAV company from the Lviv region, was killed in a Russian drone strike in the Donetsk region.
The Hnizdychiv community reported this on its Facebook page, according to Censor.NET.
What is known?
Diana was born in 2003 in the village of Hnizdychiv in the Lviv region. She served under contract as a senior combat medic in a strike unmanned aerial vehicle company.
"Diana consciously chose a difficult path fraught with danger — to defend her homeland. She did not stand aside but took on the responsibility of defending Ukraine and standing alongside those who face danger every day. She chose as her calling to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, help her comrades-in-arms, and fight for our country’s freedom and independence. This choice reflected her courage, strength of spirit and big heart," the statement reads.
Her life was cut short in the Donetsk region by a Russian drone strike.
A fellow soldier wrote on Threads that Diana was ambitious and had a sincere, radiant soul.
"She had been through some sh#t in her life. Despite that, she kept hope and positivity in her heart and shared them wholeheartedly with those around her. I will miss our talks about philosophy and life, and your crazy laugh," the serviceman added.
