Winter aid package, air defence missiles and F-16 support: Zelenskyy describes very good meeting with Merz. VIDEO

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described his meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz as good and very substantive.

Zelenskyy reported this on Telegram, according to Censor.NET.

Assistance from Germany

"I thank Germany, the chancellor personally, the entire government team and all Germans for their tangible and exceptionally significant support. Since the first days of the full-scale war, Ukraine has been able to count on the German people’s concern and their real help in protecting lives. The air defence assistance Germany provides, your support for our resilience, our energy sector and our country as a whole demonstrate leadership and show that Europe’s position would be far weaker without Germany," he stressed.

Situation on the front line

According to Zelenskyy, he briefed Merz on the situation in Ukraine and on the front line.

"Every day, the Russians strike our energy infrastructure, our cities and villages. It is important that Germany stands with us at this time and is ready to continue providing support. Friedrich and I discussed support packages and the decisions needed. There will be a winter support package from Germany. We also discussed further air defence assistance — supplying Ukraine with PAC-2, PAC-3 and IRIS-T missiles. We are also grateful to Germany for supporting our F-16 fleet. This is needed, in particular, to defend against Russian terror — against Shaheds. We discussed a new package of this support for our F-16s," Zelenskyy stressed.
