Enemy carrying out one of largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector – Ukrenergo

Ukrenergo reports major ongoing attack on Ukraine’s power system

One of the enemy’s largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure began overnight on 3 November and is still underway. Today’s attacks have further worsened the situation in the power system.

National power company Ukrenergo reported this, according to Censor.NET.

Enemy attack on energy infrastructure continues

The company said that in the past 24 hours alone, the enemy had deliberately attacked energy facilities more than 20 times, using an unprecedented number of weapons and causing significant damage to energy infrastructure.

"As a result of the attacks, emergency power cuts are currently having to be imposed in several regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv," the statement reads.

Specialists working to restore supplies

Thousands of energy workers are working to address the consequences of the attacks and restore electricity supplies. Ukrenergo said critical infrastructure facilities would be reconnected first.

"All services are coordinating continuously to stabilise the situation as quickly as possible. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore power. We will provide further updates as the situation changes," the company added.

Background

Earlier reports said emergency power cuts were in effect in Kyiv and the region following damage to facilities at the Kyiv regional power hub caused by Russian attacks.
