NABU searches: National Police suspend suspected employees
The National Police of Ukraine is assisting the NABU in its investigative activities.
This was reported by Censor.NET, citing the National Police’s communications department.
What is the National Police’s position?
Pursuant to a decision by the leadership of the National Police of Ukraine, the police officers against whom relevant procedural measures have been taken have been suspended from their duties pending the outcome of the internal investigation.
"We urge everyone to refrain from jumping to conclusions or making premature judgments until a comprehensive and objective investigation is completed and appropriate decisions are made," the statement reads.
What led up to this?
- Earlier, NABU reported that a senior SSU official was threatening to use a weapon and obstructing the search.
- Subsequently, the Bureau stated that NABU and the SAPO had uncovered a criminal organisation that systematically bribed senior officials of the SSU, the National Police and the Prosecutor’s Office in exchange for ‘protection’ of fraudulent call centres and other illegal businesses.
