Special train of Russian President Vladimir Putin cost 6.8 billion rubles or $75 million.
This is stated in a joint investigation by the Dossier with CNN, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Westdeutscher Rundfunk and Norddeutscher Rundfunk, Censor.NET reports.
The journalists found out that Putin's special train currently has such cars:
- a cosmetology car with medical equipment, a massage room and a hammam, which also provides examination, rejuvenation and health monitoring procedures;
- a carriage with sports equipment
- security and special communication car
The journalists were able to establish that Putin's special train was fitted with BT4 armour covering the walls and windows of the compartments, and in the vestibules it was mounted in the corridor, windows and doors. This type of protection can withstand a shot from an SVD sniper rifle and a 7.62 mm Kalashnikov assault rifle.
The investigators also learned that there were plans to add several more cars to the train:
- a carriage-hall with a multimedia centre, which will cost 405 million rubles (almost $4.46 million);
- two luxury cars, one with four compartments and a bar, and the other with six compartments, with an estimated project cost of 558 million rubles ($6.15 million).
- two restaurant cars with special communications, two service coupling cars for recreation and negotiations, and a lounge car for a total of 490.9 million rubles ($5.41 million).
