Law enforcement officers exposed the company's director of misappropriating UAH 15 million of state funds on fuel tanks. The contractor supplied one of the military units with inadequate quality aviation fuel storage tanks, which could have led to accidents. The executive could spend the next 12 years behind bars.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Communications Department of the National Police.

As noted, a 50-year-old resident of Zhytomyr region, head of a private enterprise, was exposed by investigators of the General Criminal Investigation Department of the Lviv Police Investigation Department together with operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Lviv region, under the procedural supervision of the Specialised Defence Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region.

It was established that a private enterprise and one of the military units entered into an agreement for the supply of tanks for storing aviation fuel (kerosene). According to the contract, funds in the amount of more than UAH 15 million were transferred to the contractor's accounts. In return, the contractor handed over 36 tanks of inadequate quality, unsuitable for fuel storage, which was confirmed by the relevant expert examinations.

Suspicion of the attacker

The offender was served a notice of suspicion of committing criminal offences stipulated by Part 4, Part 5 of Art. 191 (Misappropriation, embezzlement or seizure of property through abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to twelve years with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the issue of choosing a custody as a measure of restraint is being decided.

Law enforcement officers are also identifying other persons involved in the crime.
