Two saboteurs were detained in Kyiv who were preparing a series of arson attacks on Ukrzaliznytsia facilities on the orders of the Russian Federation.

The enemy planned to involve two criminals in setting fire to relay cabinets of signal locations on strategically important rail traffic in the region.
"To commit sabotage, the occupiers engaged a local 22-year-old habitual offender who came to the attention of the aggressor because of his convictions for hooliganism and fraud. At the end of July this year, a representative of the Russian special service contacted the young man on the Telegram messenger and offered him cooperation. In return for the aggressor's money, his accomplice was to burn down a relay cabinet near one of the Ukrzaliznytsia freight stations in Kyiv," the statement said.
The Kyiv resident engaged a 17-year-old acquaintance, a local handyman, to perform the task.
"In accordance with the instructions from Russia, the saboteurs conducted additional reconnaissance near the potential target at night, took photos of it and sent them to their Russian handler for "approval". Then they purchased tools to break the protective panel of the electrical equipment and a flammable mixture.
Waiting for twilight, the saboteurs broke down the door of the relay cabinet and set fire to its technological part. The suspects then filmed the fire on a mobile phone camera to "report" to the occupiers. The attackers were to continue a series of arson attacks on railway infrastructure facilities in Kyiv," the SSU added.
The two saboteurs were detained, and during searches of their homes, mobile phones with evidence of their subversive activities in favour of Russia were seized. They were also found to have "working equipment" used to commit arson.
The criminals were served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Article 28, Part 2 Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (sabotage committed by a group of persons under martial law).
The repeat offender is currently in custody, and his accomplice has been placed under nightly house arrest as a preventive measure. Both face life imprisonment.
