The commander of a military unit in the Dnipropetrovsk region, who forced his subordinates to work on a private construction site for his close relatives, was served a notice of suspicion of abuse of power and authority.

As noted, five servicemen have been building houses for the lieutenant colonel's mother and mother-in-law since 2022.
The subordinates built two two-storey cottages from the foundation, and the commander also "ordered" a barbecue area for his mother's house. If they refused to work, the commander threatened to send them to the front line to the hottest spots.
The servicemen had not been on duty for almost three years, but received full monthly salaries, including additional remuneration for performing combat (special) missions.
The total amount of damage to the state is UAH 2.5 million.
Searches of the military unit commander
Law enforcers conducted 12 searches at the residences and workplaces of the commander and his subordinates, as well as in the cars they use. During the investigations, documents on accrued and paid salaries to the military, information on their "entrance" on daily patrols, employment files, mobile phones, and draft records on construction were seized.
The commander of the military unit was detained and notified of suspicion of abuse of power and official authority committed under martial law, which caused grave consequences (Part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years.
