Two agents of Russian military intelligence who were preparing shelling of the northern regions of Ukraine were exposed in Chernihiv region.
This was reported by the SSU press service, Censor.NET informs.
"The suspects were two residents of Pryluky district. The Russian special service recruited them remotely when they were looking for 'quick money' on Telegram channels. Their main task was to find and transmit the coordinates of the Defence Forces in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. To conceal communication with the occupiers, the agents communicated with the Russian curator through the accounts of their family members," the statement said.
Thus, the traitors were supposed to install hidden video cameras near the facilities of the Defence Forces with recording on flash drives.
They were also supposed to try to establish the routes of movement and combat positions of mobile fire groups guarding the airspace in northern Ukraine.
The agents were exposed in time by SSU counterintelligence and detained before they could purchase the CCTV cameras. During the search, mobile phones with evidence of work for the Russian GRU were seized from the detainees.
They were both served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
They are currently in custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
