The Security Service of Ukraine has completed the pre-trial investigation of the case against the head of a contractor company accused of misappropriating budget funds allocated for the restoration of social infrastructure in the Zhytomyr region.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press centre.
The contractor is accused of using cheap window constructions instead of materials stipulated in the contract that would meet the state building standards for educational institutions. As a result, the state budget suffered losses of UAH 1.6 million.
As noted, the offender entered into a contract worth UAH 1.9 million to replace windows in the Berdychiv Professional Construction Lyceum, which was damaged by Russian shelling in 2022. Instead of using high-quality materials, he used low-quality products that do not provide adequate thermal insulation and energy saving.
During the investigation, the defendant's property (two land plots, residential and two non-residential premises) was seized to compensate for the losses. The indictment under Part 5 of Article 191 ("Misappropriation, embezzlement of property on a large scale") and Part 1 of Article 366 ("Official forgery") of the Criminal Code of Ukraine was submitted to the court.
The illegal activity was exposed by the SSU officers in Zhytomyr region jointly with the Police under the procedural supervision of the Berdychiv District Prosecutor's Office.
