On the Day of Unity of Ukraine, Ukrainian organizations in Austria united in an Association that aims to consolidate and scale the activities of civic activists.

This was reported by Censor.NET.

The signing of the charter, attended by representatives of 12 organisations from across the country, took place at the Embassy of Ukraine.

The newly elected chairman, Andrii Yavorskyi, said that the main areas of the Association's work in the beginning will be to spread the presence of Ukrainian organisations in the information space, coordinate joint mass actions, and search for premises for organising regular events, and added that the association is open to new members.

First Deputy Head Oleksandra Saienko said: "We have been discussing the idea of uniting Ukrainian organisations into an association for more than a year. Finally, we have implemented it. Once the charter is registered, we will be able to start working officially. This is especially important today, when the challenges of the war have been compounded by the deteriorating political situation in Austria."

Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Austria Vasyl Khymynets and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa welcomed the signing participants.

Vasyl Khymynets drew attention to the symbolism of the date of signing the charter - 22 January - and assured that the Embassy would facilitate the Association's activities.
