As of February 2025, the Ministry of Defence has approved 10 prototype ballistic helmets for use in the Armed Forces and the State Special Transport Service that meet the highest international protection standards.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Censor.NET informs.
As noted, all samples are of protection class 1.
According to Hlib Kanevskyi, Director of the Defence Ministry's Procurement Policy Department, last year the army received more than 168,000 helmets worth UAH 1.2 billion under the Defence Ministry's budget programme. According to him, clearly defined standards for personal protective equipment, including helmets, ensure high quality, fast logistics and competitive procurement between Ukrainian manufacturers.
The approved samples include:
- 6 full-size helmets;
- 4 high-cut helmets.
It is noted that the helmets were provided by eight Ukrainian manufacturers and two helmets by a foreign company from Bulgaria. In addition, two more foreign manufacturers whose products have successfully passed military (pilot) tests are currently undergoing laboratory tests to obtain the status of a reference model.
In addition, technical specifications for three types of covers were approved:
- for a full-size helmet;
- for high-cut helmet;
- winter (camouflage) cover.
The Ministry of Defence notes that all combat helmets can be equipped with modern mounts:
- for installing a thermal imager or night vision device;
- side rails for a flashlight or headphones.
