Yaroslav Shapochka, a soldier and former journalist with the "Fakty" publication, was killed at the front, he had been missing since March 2023.
According to Censor.NET, journalist Alina Khoroshilova wrote about this on her Facebook page.
"Unfortunately, the worst has been confirmed - Yaroslav Shapochka is on the shield, forever in the heavenly guard. Eternal memory and glory to the hero. I will announce all the details of the funeral later," the post reads.
According to "Fakty", Yaroslav worked as a correspondent for their publication for several years at different times in his life.
"Sincere and uncompromising, he is remembered for his vivid publications about the people who shaped the history of Ukraine in the 21st century," the media outlet noted.
According to "Novynarnia", Yaroslav Shapochka served in the 2nd rifle company of the 207th separate territorial defence battalion (Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv) of the 241st separate brigade of the territorial defence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yaroslav Shapochka, 50, is a Kyiv resident, journalist, artist, civic activist, participant in the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity. He studied at school No 117 on Luteranska Street. He graduated from the Institute of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (1991-1996). Later he became a film director and photographer.
From the first days of the large-scale war, he joined the ranks of the Kyiv brigade of the TDF.
He is survived by his wife and daughter.
