A Russian agent who was preparing to detonate an improvised explosive device near the city's TCR was detained in Rivne.
This was reported by the press service of the SSU, Censor.NET informs.
The woman was supposed to leave explosives near a military facility when the maximum number of citizens was supposed to be on its territory.
The Russian special services planned to detonate the explosives together with the woman in order to eliminate her as an "unnecessary witness".
The SSU CI exposed the agent in time, detaining her on her way to the location of the terrorist attack.
"The suspect was a 42-year-old resident of Vinnytsia, who came to the FSB's attention while looking for "quick money" on Telegram channels. On the instructions of the occupiers, the agent arrived in Rivne, where she first conducted reconnaissance near the city's TCR and "reported" to her Russian supervisor.
Then she was supposed to get the explosives from a pre-prepared cache and deliver them to the TCR. However, the SSU officers were proactive and prevented the crime and human casualties," the statement said.
The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code: Part 2 of Article 111 (high treason committed under martial law) and Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of explosives).
The offender is in custody. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier it was reported that on 1 February 2025, an explosion occurred in the Rivne TCR.
The police were working at the scene of the explosion in the Rivne TCR and SS, one person was reported dead and six injured.
The Security Service also prevented a terrorist attack in the centre of Rivne and detained two Russian intelligence agents who were preparing an explosion near the district police department.
