During a search at the residence of a 49-year-old man, law enforcement officers in Berdychiv found a box containing eight aircraft missiles. The items, which posed a real threat to the life and health of the residents of the house, were seized by the police. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Berdychiv District Police Department of Zhytomyr Region.

It is noted that the operatives received information about the possible storage of ammunition by a resident of the district centre and searched the apartment and utility rooms used by the man.

What did the operatives find during the search?

A box with 57mm unguided aircraft missiles was found in the basement of a multi-storey building and safely removed. The ammunition has now been sent for expert examination.

How did the owner explain the discovery?

According to the 49-year-old owner's preliminary explanation, he found the missiles and decided to keep them, so he hid them in the basement.

Investigators detained the man in accordance with the procedural procedure. He was served a notice of suspicion of illegal handling of ammunition (Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being decided.

What is the threat to the attacker?

Under current legislation, the man could face imprisonment for a term of 3 to 7 years.
