Two directors of state-owned enterprises who demanded kickbacks from an entrepreneur for the supply of armoured vehicles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine were served with a notice of suspicion.
Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, two directors of state-owned enterprises were served a notice of suspicion of extortion from a supplier of components for concluding contracts with it and unimpeded acceptance of goods (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
What scheme did the offenders come up with?
The investigation established that in case of refusal to pay a certain amount from each transaction, the so-called "kickback", the heads of state-owned enterprises threatened to create artificial obstacles that would make it impossible to fulfil contracts for the supply of components for military equipment.
What was the size of the kickback?
The size of the kickback depended on the type of parts and their quantity in the batch. In this way, from July 2023 to February 2025, the suspects received a total of almost UAH 2 million from the company's representative.
The offenders were served a notice of suspicion
They have been served a notice of suspicion and a custodial detention with a possibility of bail has been chosen as a measure of restraint.
The investigation is ongoing.
