As part of the POW swap that took place on Wednesday, 19 March, six soldiers of the 12th Special Forces Brigade of the Azov National Guard were released from Russian captivity.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the press service of Azov.
"They survived the battle for Mariupol and the ordeal of enemy captivity. After almost three years of captivity, our comrades are finally returning to their families and friends," the brigade said.
At the same time, 842 Azov people still remain in Russian prisons and are in extremely difficult conditions.
"We hope that the responsible services are doing everything possible to bring all Azov soldiers home every day. The 12th Azov Brigade is fighting for them on the battlefield every day," they said.
POW swap on March 19
As a reminder, on March 19, Ukraine brought back 175 POWs from Russian captivity, as well as 22 severely wounded defenders.
The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported that 197 of our defenders returned home on March 19 as part of the prisoner exchange. Among them are 166 common soldiers and sergeants.
