What is known about the fallen Hero?
Polikevych mobilised to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in June 23.
At first, he served in the Dnipro Air Defense Brigade, then took part in military operations on the eastern front, twice breaking out of encirclement by Russian troops together with his comrades.
After rehabilitation, he served in the Kherson region, and then in the east as a grenade launcher of the motorised infantry battalion of the 72nd separate mechanised brigade named after the Black Cossacks. In February 2025, he received the honorary award "Infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" from his commander.
Kyrylo Polikevych joined the Dnipro Regional State Television in December 2008 as an engineer in the editing department. In 2018, he started working at Suspilne on the Morning on Suspilne project. In 2020, he was promoted to the position of videographer.
"Kyrylo was a very kind man, reserved but with a smile on his face. I only had a chance to work with him for a month and a half before he went to serve. But, despite this, every time he was in Dnipro and stopped by the branch, we sat down in my office and talked. The last time he came was on 26 December 2024. It was during the blackouts... We sat in the office for about an hour in the twilight, just talking... About life, about his service (he was in the Kherson direction at the time, and I know these places well), about his family, and we were already making plans for his return to work. It's really a tragedy for the whole Suspilne Dnipro family...", said Kateryna Lysiuk, manager of Suspilne Dnipro.
Kyrylo Polikevich is survived by his wife Olha and eight-year-old daughter Sofiia.
According to the Institute of Mass Information, Kyrylo Polikevich became the 100th media person killed by Russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Censor.NET expresses its sincere condolences to the family of the fallen Hero.
