During his visit to Ukraine, Czech President Petr Pavel visited the production of Bren-2 assault rifles under license from Česká Zbrojovka.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Herman Smetanin.
"One of our companies assembles Bren-2 assault rifles under a license from Česká Zbrojovka. Ukrainian gunsmiths have been trained in the Czech Republic and are now implementing NATO experience and technology at the Ukrainian plant. So I showed Mr President how the assembly process works at different stages. I also showed him the first assembled rifles," Smetanin said.
He stressed that the Ukrainian defense industry has great capabilities: "We are ready to expand cooperation up to the full localization of rifle production in Ukraine, including its components."
The minister also said that several important documents were signed during the meeting in the presence of Czech President Petr Pavel and Ukrainian Presidential Advisor on Strategic Issues Oleksandr Kamyshyn. They concerned, in particular, the supply of components for the localized production of small arms ammunition and the assembly of Bren-2 assault rifles.
In addition, Smetanin presented the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise to Tomasz Kopechny, Government Commissioner for Reconstruction of Ukraine, in gratitude for all he has done for Ukraine.
The minister added that during the visit, he and the delegation paid tribute to the memory of the gunsmiths who died during the Russian shelling of Ukrainian enterprises.
