Two brothers were exposed for transporting men liable for military service to the border area for their subsequent illegal smuggling abroad.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service, Censor.NET reports.
It was established that the men attempted to transport two Ukrainian citizens of conscription age to the border in their private car, with the intention of facilitating their illegal entry into EU countries. During the journey, the clients received detailed instructions on how to bypass checkpoints, how to act if stopped by law enforcement, and how to proceed with crossing the border.
"The brothers were supposed to receive USD 10,000 for their services. The group was detained by border guards together with officers of the Sarny District Police Department of the Main Department of the National Police in Rivne Region, with force support from the DOZOR special unit," the SBGS reported.
The defendants were served a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine". One of the brothers was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine and custody was chosen as a measure of restraint, while the other brother was served a notice of suspicion. In the course of urgent investigative actions, a vehicle and other material evidence indicating their criminal activity were seized.
