The SBI and the SSU exposed two law enforcement officers who forced entrepreneurs to pay bribes by threatening to mobilise their employees.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation, Censor.NET informs.
As noted, the two law enforcement officers systematically extorted bribes from small business owners, threatening to inform military commissariats about employees who were not registered for military service. They also intimidated entrepreneurs with fines and forced service of summonses.
It was established that the scheme had been operating since November 2024. An average of UAH 9,000 was extorted from each entrepreneur, and a total of about UAH 220,000 was received per month.
On 27 March 2025, one of the defendants was detained while receiving a UAH 42,000 bribe.
Both suspects were charged under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining an unlawful benefit). The court imposed on them custody as a measure of restraint with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 1 million each.
A motion to remove them from office is currently being prepared. The Odesa Region Prosecutor's Office is providing procedural supervision in the case.
