$8,000 to Romania: Attempt to smuggle men across border uncovered in Zakarpattia – State Border Guard Service. PHOTOS
On the outskirts of the village of Vyshkovo in Zakarpattia, officers of the Operational Investigation Department together with border guards of the Yablunivka Department of the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment detained five people who were planning to illegally cross the border with Romania.
This was reported by the State Border Guard Service, Censor.NET reports.
Among the detainees are four residents of Zakarpattia region and one resident of Donetsk region. The operatives established that two of them intended to get to Romania outside the established checkpoints with the help of three accomplices.
According to the detainees, the cost of the smuggling was $8,000 per person.
Border guards informed the police about the detection of signs of an offence under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine"). The incident was registered in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.
The organiser of the scheme was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The investigation is ongoing.
