During the visit, Jolie met with medical staff, local families and volunteers who live every day under the constant threat of drones, shelling and mines.
The actress saw how protective nets are being installed over roads in some parts of the city to provide at least some protection from Russian drone attacks.
Due to security risks, medical assistance and schooling have been moved to fortified underground facilities, where Jolie observed their work and the resilience of local residents, the foundation noted.
The actress's comments on her visit to Ukraine
She shared her thoughts on the trip and was impressed by the resilience of Ukrainians.
"The residents of Mykolaiv and Kherson live under constant danger but refuse to give up. While governments around the world turn away from protecting civilians, their strength and solidarity command deep respect. After more than three years of conflict, the fatigue is visible but so is their determination. Families want safety, peace, and the chance to rebuild their lives," Angelina Jolie emphasized.
She also noted that civilians in Sudan, Gaza, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are enduring similar hardships.
"Each situation has its own story, but the human experience is the same — displacement, loss, and the daily struggle to preserve dignity. Diplomacy and the protection of civilians must not take a back seat to the brutal contest of weapons and technology," the actress added.
