The National Police of Ukraine have served a notice of suspicion on another participant in a corruption scheme involving the procurement of drones for the military.
According to the investigation, the suspect is an assistant to the head of a public organization who, together with the organization’s leader, allegedly planned to misappropriate funds allocated to a military unit in the Boryspil district of Kyiv region, Censor.NET reports.
Police exposed the suspect involved in the scheme to embezzle public funds.
In 2025, this unit received 2.4 million hryvnias from local authorities for the purchase of drones. At the same time, in July, the head of the non-governmental organisation approached the commander with a demand to return 1.4 million hryvnias, allegedly for "assistance in allocating funds".
The drones were never actually intended to be supplied to the military — the money was to be divided among the participants in the scheme.
In October, operatives from the National Police’s Strategic Investigations Department detained the head of the NGO, who had already received 31,000 US dollars and 100,000 hryvnias.
Further investigative actions led law enforcement officers to identify another participant in the scheme, the NGO head’s assistant. He has been served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation or embezzlement of property on a particularly large scale.
In addition to the charges already brought, the head of the NGO has also been charged with influence peddling and illegal handling of weapons.
: A court is currently considering whether to remand both suspects in custody as a preventive measure.
