In Dnipro, a cadet at the State University of Internal Affairs was photographed standing next to the body of a 14-year-old girl who had been reported missing by the police.

On 18 February, the Dnipropetrovsk regional police reported the disappearance of 14-year-old Anastasia Sytnikova in the Soborny district of Dnipro.
On 20 February, law enforcement officials stated that the search had been called off and the girl had been found dead. The circumstances of the tragedy were not specified.
Later, social media reported that the girl’s body had been found in the abandoned ‘Nautilus’ (Maiak) café near Shevchenko Park.
It is known that cadets from the law enforcement university were involved in the search for the girl.
A photo of one of the cadets, smiling for the camera next to the girl’s body, has been published online.
Reaction
Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs announced the launch of an internal investigation into the incident.
"During the investigation, the individuals involved in the incident have already been identified.
The management of the educational institution strongly condemns any displays of disrespect for human dignity, particularly in situations involving tragedies and the loss of life. Such behaviour is unacceptable for a student at an institution within the Ministry of Internal Affairs system and a future law enforcement officer.
An internal investigation is currently underway to fully establish the circumstances of the incident and to assess the actions of all those involved from a legal perspective. Further updates on the results will be provided.
The university expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," they stated.
