Previous attacks on ports
In March 2026, the ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation were repeatedly targeted by drone attacks.
On the night of 23 March, locals reported a large-scale drone attack, which caused a fire in the port of Primorsk and damaged infrastructure. According to the region’s governor, Oleksandr Drozdzenko, starting from the evening of 22 March, Russian air defence and electronic warfare forces allegedly shot down dozens of drones over the region. However, the attack damaged a fuel tank at the port of Primorsk, causing a fire.
Following the drone attack, Russia suspended oil transhipment at the ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Oblast. Two key terminals in the Baltic Sea were temporarily out of operation.
On the night of Tuesday 24 March, the territory of the Leningrad Oblast of the Russian Federation was attacked by drones. Drozdzenko claimed that 33 UAVs had allegedly been destroyed over the Leningrad Oblast by air defence and electronic warfare systems. The attack caused a fire to break out in the port of Ust-Luga.
