In the Kyiv region, following a massive drone and missile attack by the Russian Federation, fires broke out in three forest districts of the ‘Capital Forest Office’ branch of the State Enterprise ‘Forests of Ukraine’. Foresters worked almost around the clock to extinguish several dangerous blazes.

According to the company, the total area affected by the fires was over 4.3 hectares. The heaviest impact was felt in the north of the Kyiv region and in the forests near the capital.
Fires in three forest districts
In the Boryspil Forest District, the Vyshenkiv Forestry was affected. After the fire was detected on CCTV cameras, a team of firefighters was dispatched to the scene. A fire engine, a tractor with a plough and 10 forest rangers were deployed to extinguish the blaze. The fire covered an area of 0.8 hectares.
An unexploded drone component was also found at the scene. State Emergency Service bomb disposal experts were on site, and law enforcement officers secured the perimeter.
The fire nearly reached the Chernobyl zone
In the Ivankiv Forest District, the fire broke out in the Oransky Forestry. The fire covered 2 hectares and nearly reached the border of the Chernobyl zone. Extinguishing efforts were hampered by strong winds, which caused the flames to change direction rapidly.
A fire engine, two fire modules, a tractor with a plough and 10 foresters were deployed to tackle the blaze. The fire was successfully contained.
Another fire was extinguished in the Potashnyansky Forestry of the Teteriv Forest District. Three fire engines, two firefighting modules and 11 foresters were deployed there. The fire was extinguished over an area of 1 hectare.
