The Simferopol TPP caught fire on the night of 24 June following a Ukrainian attack on occupied Crimea.

This was reported by Censor.NET, citingan OSINT analysis by ASTRA.

What is known?

An ASTRA OSINT analyst, based on footage from the Exilenova+ monitoring channel, concluded that the fire occurred on the premises of the Simferopol Thermal Power Plant in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

As stated on the company’s website, the Simferopol Thermal Power Plant meets around 30 per cent of Simferopol’s heating needs. It also supplies heat to the settlements of Hresivskyi, Komsomolske, Aeroflotskyi, and, to some extent, Molodizhne.

The occupying authorities in Crimea have not officially commented on reports of the attack. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that Ukrainian drones had allegedly been shot down over the annexed peninsula, but did not specify their number.

What led up to this?

It was previously reported that occupied Sevastopol was left completely without power following a nighttime attack: a substation and a thermal power station in Simferopol were hit.
