In Kyiv, law enforcement officers have detained five men suspected of murdering a 58-year-old local resident.
According to Censor.NET, this information comes from the Kyiv police. The man’s body, showing signs of severe injuries, was found on the riverbank on 6th Sadova Line Street. An investigative team, operatives and a forensic pathologist arrived at the scene.
A dispute outside a café ended in death
According to the investigation, a group of five men were relaxing outside a café owned by one of the suspects. A verbal altercation broke out between one of them and a passer-by.
The men then began beating the victim with their fists, feet and a wooden stick. They subsequently dragged him behind the café building, tied him to a tree with a rope and continued the beating.
The police noted that the attackers did not respond to the man’s pleas to stop the assault.
The victim was caught up with near the river
After a short while, the 58-year-old man managed to free himself and make his way to the riverbank.
However, the suspects caught up with him, knocked him to the ground and beat him again. The man died at the scene from injuries to his head and chest.
Law enforcement officers also established that, after the crime, the suspects attempted to cover their tracks, in particular by deleting CCTV footage.
The suspects face life imprisonment
The police detained all five men in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
They have now been served with notices of suspicion. If found guilty, the suspects face life imprisonment.
