Following a night-time enemy attack in the Darnytskyi district of the capital, Kyiv police bomb disposal experts recovered the warhead of a rocket that had fallen right next to a high-rise residential block.
This was reported by Censor.NET, citing the Kyiv Police Communications Department.
Dangerous find
As noted, law enforcement received a report of a dangerous find from residents of a residential block in the Darnytskyi district.
Officers from the district police department arrived promptly at the scene, evacuating residents from the neighbouring building, securing the scene and cordoning off the hazardous area until the bomb disposal experts arrived.
Specialists from the capital’s police headquarters’ bomb disposal unit, together with rescuers from the State Emergency Service, carried out operations to remove the missile’s warhead. The dangerous object was carefully excavated from the ground and transported for subsequent destruction at a specialised test site.
"The Kyiv Police urge members of the public, should they discover any suspicious or potentially explosive objects, not to approach them, not to touch them, and to immediately report the find via the dedicated hotlines 102 or 101," the statement reads.
What led up to this?
It was previously reported that explosions were heard in Kyiv on the night of 28 June during an air raid alert. Russian forces launched a missile strike using ballistic weapons.
By the morning, it emerged that two people had been injured as a result of the Russian Federation’s ballistic missile strike on Kyiv, and fires had broken out in the Darnytskyi district.
