President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded to today’s Russian attacks on Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Nikopol and other regions of Ukraine, emphasising the need to strengthen anti-ballistic defences.
The president wrote about this on his Telegram channel, according to Censor.NET.
Russian strike on Dnipro
He noted that a rescue operation is currently underway at the site of the Russian missile strike on Dnipro. All emergency services are involved and are providing people with everything they need.
"Unfortunately, as of now, it is known that five people have been killed. My condolences go out to their families and loved ones. Twenty-nine people have been injured as a result of this strike," he added.
Attack on Zaporizhzhia
"There was a Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia today, targeting a regular minibus. Three people were killed in this drone attack. My condolences. Six people were injured, including a child," the president recalled.
Other regions
In addition, in Nikopol, the Russians launched a second strike on rescue workers and a fire engine.
Energy infrastructure was targeted in the Sumy, Odesa and Chernihiv regions.
There were also strikes on Kherson and the Kharkiv region.
More protection is needed
Zelenskyy emphasised that it is vital to counter this Russian terror.
"There must be more protection for people against such horrific strikes. First and foremost, we need anti-ballistic defences. It is important that work on Europe’s own anti-ballistic defences is as active as possible – its own systems and missiles," the president noted.
He added that the sooner such capabilities are expanded, the more lives will be saved.
