Around 30 people in Lutsk attacked military personnel from the TCR and SS after a car driver refused to produce his documents for inspection and fled. As a result of the altercation, two soldiers sustained injuries and their service vehicle was seriously damaged.

According to Censor.NET, Daria Stelmashchuk, spokesperson for the Volyn Regional Territorial Centre for Recruitment and Social Support, told journalists about the incident.

The incident took place on the evening of 20 August. According to the TCR, law enforcement officers stopped a car at a checkpoint near the car market to check the driver’s documents.

The driver refused to produce his documents or provide his personal details, after which he drove off. A police patrol set off in pursuit with their flashing lights on.

At around 8.30 pm on Zakhysnykiv Ukrainy Street, the man abandoned his car at a traffic light and ran towards a residential area. Police officers and TCR military personnel gave chase.

Subsequently, around 30 people gathered near the service vehicle.

"Following this, 30 civilians approached the scene and began to physically resist police officers and TCR military personnel, striking them with their hands and unidentified objects," said Stelmashchuk.

All the windows and headlights of the vehicle were smashed

As a result of the attack, two TCR servicemen sustained numerous bruises and abrasions. According to the TCR, one of the participants in the altercation also threw shards of glass at the servicemen.

The service vehicle was effectively wrecked: all its windows and headlights were smashed, and all its tyres were damaged.

In addition, a radio, a body camera and the car keys were stolen from the vehicle.

An investigative team was called to the scene. One of the individuals involved in the altercation was detained and taken to the district police station.

The Volyn Regional Police stated that they would provide more detailed information once all the circumstances of the incident had been established.
