Grenade launchers for $11,000: Serviceman who traded weapons detained in Kharkiv – SBI. PHOTOS
A serviceman from one of the military units stationed in the Kharkiv region has been detained for illegally trading in weapons.
The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported this, according to Censor.NET.
What is known
He reportedly transported weapons and ammunition from the combat zone to Kharkiv, stored them in a garage, and searched for buyers through a messaging app.
In one documented episode, the serviceman agreed to sell grenade launchers and rounds for them to a local resident for $11,000. The suspect was detained while selling the weapons.
What penalty he faces
During a search of the garage that the serviceman used as a cache, law enforcement officers discovered an entire arsenal. Automatic weapons, hand-held grenade launchers, fragmentation grenades, mortar bombs, ammunition of various calibres, drones and other weapons were seized.
The serviceman was notified of suspicion of illegal handling of weapons, ammunition and explosives (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The article provides for up to seven years’ imprisonment.
The Kharkiv Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office is providing procedural supervision.
